An Aging Production Line Holding Back Growth
Regent Tobacco Industries, one of the Philippines' established cigarette manufacturers, faced a critical inflection point. Their legacy MOLINS production line, installed over two decades ago, was maxing out at 2,500 cigarettes per minute. The MK9 cigarette making machine, producing 5,000 cigarettes per minute, replaced their aging maker and immediately doubled the production ceiling. The M2-10s Duplex packing machine, running at 320 packets per minute, was chosen to match the MK9's output without creating a downstream bottleneck.
The WRAPID-350 overwrapping machine added crystal-clear BOPP wrapping at 350 packets per minute, while the CM-40 cartoning machine and COPAR bundling machine completed the line from finished cigarette to distribution-ready bundles. The entire line was designed for seamless machine-to-machine integration, with matched throughput at each stage to eliminate bottlenecks.
MOI's engineering team conducted a detailed site survey before installation, mapping existing utility connections, floor layouts, and material flow patterns. This pre-planning minimised disruption during the 6-month installation and commissioning phase, which included comprehensive operator training for the entire production team.
